Re: Flywheel Magnets - Should I be Concerned?

Pulled my flywheel last night ad found a small chip and some scraping under the flywheel and along the edges of the stator. I think it's OK but I'd like a second opinion. The chipped magnet is isolated to the one magnet pictured and the scoring pictured on the stator is the worst spot.

Many thanks experts!

I have to assume that the 'missing' piece, caused the stator scoring.

Considering how much magnet area is remaining...and assuming that you are not having any charging problems...I don't think that you have anything to be worried about.

If this was mine, however...I would mix up a little 2 part epoxy, and 'hit' the chipped spot (not letting the epoxy get too high to clear the stator). This should help discourage any further loss of the magnet, in that area!

Just my 2 cents worth....

That magnet is broken into 2 pieces, that why you see a parting line down the center of it . This magnet will eventually come out and destroy stator, repair or replace flywheel!!! I will check and see if I have a bad flywheel to rob magnet from if you want.
