Flywheel nut size '77 Johnson 140 hp?

I've had it off before, but I can't remember what size socket it took.

I think it's a 1 1/4" or 1 1/16". If you have a compressor and an inpact it's much easyer to remove, you won't have to hold the flywheel.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, that's how I took it off before. I'm borrowing the socket so I just wanted to borrow the right one. Beggars can't be choosey. Anybody know exactly which one it is? Thanks again for the reply monoshock - did you recently change your name - seems like I remember seeing you avatar image associated with another name?

I've used the name monoshock for 5+ years on eBay, I just joined this forum a month or so ago.

If it is the same as my 85hp, it is 1 5/16". I am thinking it's the same.
