having trouble getting the flywheel off. have a puller connected and lots of pressure applied. afraid to crank down any harder, believe i have corrosion on the shaft. any tricks of the trade I can use to get it to brake loose.

yeah: had a similar problem. when puller is all tensioned up, you need to give the end of the crank a good sharp hit with a hammer via a suitable drift. not sure what sort of puller u got, i made up one meself and got a 6" length of 1"x1" steel as a drift. main thing is to tension up the puller and whack the top of the crank without damaging the flywheel nut thread. its the whack o the hammer that releases the flywheel not the puller tension.<br />good luck!

i would not hit the crank with a hammer although i have seen it done alot i have never done it becuase i know whats inside the engine and its not good for the thrust bearings or seals. tighten down the puller make sure all your threads are lubed up on the puller and crank her down she will pop. use a good penatrating oil and let her sit i have had to leave some sit over night but in the morning they where always "popped"
