1990 mercury v-200, Book says to torque the flywheel to 120ft lb. but when i do that my starter can barely turn it (had bad teeth on old one). So im wondering what u think might happen or what i should do. I want to torque it to about 60ft lb. and maybe put some locktite or idk on it. Will the flywheel spin off

Torque on the flywheell nut should not affect the starter.----Go back and look for the real problem !---------What work was done under the flywheel ?

flywheel has the exact same numbers, but the new on is 1/8 inch longer around the large diameter. WTF, so its torquing into the stater and locking. what a pain in the ***. If u have any info on how to buy the correct one please give it up :director:

i think what i did was thought the stater was the 5/8" 94 teeth and it should be 1/2" thats gotta be it.
