Well as some of you know I have been doing some...... repairs on my $500 fixeruper.
Well good news got about everything fixed and took her to the lake to ring her out.
Dropped it in the water and before the jeep was parked I had to fire up the bilge... I got the typical "Did you put in the plug" from a couple people.... Yep I double checked it..
I looked really close. I missed a hole. where the electric shift wires go through the intermediate housing... pulled her back out of the water. slathered some Silicone on the wires. and all over them and the hole... let it sit for 15 mins or so and put her back in..
No more leaks..
Got her out on the water.. and ALL WENT ABOUT PERFECT... ran better than I expected... Got on it, and the bow came up.... well the one thing I did not get was a new trim motor yet... easy fix moved 4 passengers up to the bow... and she got right on plane...
ran it around got it up to full throttle and she did really well. 4000 rpm wide open. right at about 30-35 on the speedo.... WOO HOOO not bad without proper trim.
Drove it around, drove straight as can be. turned really easy. ran at about 160 degs the whole time.... not a miss!!!!!
pulled her out of the water. watched one of my passengers slip jumping to the dock and fall in... Free entertainment for everyone. LOL only hurt his pride..
Got it on the trailer pulled the plug and drained about 1/2 gallon of water out... seems ok but is that normal? I may have taken on some water when the nose came up and I stopped a little quick.
anyways A few small details and shes PERFECT!!!
Oh its a 73 arrowglass viper. 165 hp 0mc with electric shift...
I put in a new (used) motor, replaced the intermediate housing and Tilt motor. replaced the drive shaft bearings on the main output shaft. rebuilt the lower drive (mostly to fix the shift coils and some leaks)
Anyways.... best day on the water so far this year.... ok first one, but better late than never..
Pictures to come soon!
