i just bought a tahoe 204 deckboat and am considering adding foam to make it truly unsinkable. my family has concerns about safety with the shorter hull and rounded bow. i am very ignorant on this subject. any and all information and advice you can give me will be helpful. thank you :

Hi Saz,
I read your post earlier and have given some thought to your inquiry. I am not sure you can add enough foam to make your boat "unsinkable"/read Titanic :D . Unless I am mistaken the foam slows down sinking and it might keep the boat partially above water for a longer period of time, but only a few boats are truly unsinkable. I think they design those boats so that there is enough space between the hulls....like Boston Whaler, etc. to be truly unsinkable. Larger, heavier boats would require a lot of floatation and I doubt there is enough space available. Correct me if I am wrong experts.......

To make your family feel safer on the water, take courses like the Coast Guard Auxilary and Power Squadron offer and include them. Practice drills such as man overboard and testing pfds in the water. I don't know where you boat, but stay out of uncomfortable seas until they are confidant that safety is not a factor...after all it is for fun! :)
