You seem to be the only local on the board that posts regularly and since you and I have the same boat (I've got the 90 and you the 115), just wondering how everything is going.....

Joe

Hi Joe....things are going pretty good although the season seemed to get off to a slow start this year. Water temp in Couchiching was only 65 last weekend although both sons tried out the new wakeboard behind the Cutter. Touch wood so far no problems with boat or motor, how is yours?

65 eh?

We are about the same. My neighbour bought an inboard ski boat with temp sensors and he says about 66.

Boat's great. I was running a 17" prop with the 90 last year. Changed it to a 21" prop and picked up at least 6 MPH.

I know speed increased, hole shot went down and with 800 lbs. of human cargo I'm up on plane a little slower (maybe 7 -10 seconds to plane). I can't over rev now. With me alone (or with few other people) my WOT RPM is between 5400 to 5600 RPM depending on load an proper trim. This right where I want to be so if anyone takes the boat out, I'm not going to worry about exceeding max revs.

I can live with that. I think I'll get better mileage now and it is quieter cruising at about 25 mph.

I wanted to have a tonneau cover made but our cottage reno went a little over budget so I'll wait for next year.

I'll post pics if you do....

What oil do you run. I bought a 4 (5 maybe?)gallon Merc Oil for about $75 which hurt a little but then I though about it and that should be the whole season. If I buy CTC premium at $22/gallon, I'm in the same price.

Tx.

Joe

Joe...can't remember for sure but I think the 115 came with a 19p prop which puts us in the 5400-5500 RPM range and according to the speedo does about 53 mph, could get a little more top end with a 21 but then hole shot would suffer and since this is used mostly for skiing and wakeboarding that wouldn't be good. We usually get the Shell low smoke oil at CTC about $24 for 4 litre. Gas is another story, 2 weekends ago I had to put some in my 35' Thundercraft at $1.09 per litre, just about cried now it's down $1.01!

Bob:

$1.09 a litre? Wow that hurts. I usually do the gerry can thing.

The local esso in Campbellford (3 lockages from me) sells gas on the water for the same price on land and is usually reasonable.

How are your water temps. We're in the high 60's now. Kinda cold still...

Joe
