I want to thank you two , I first asked question on my '56 Merc Electric, and I was directed to Grubb's Marine. Turned out all i need to do was place tape over a bare wire, ( green one feeding from igniton switch) that had been rubbed bare and replace two condensors, now engine runs fine, except for a slight spitting occassionally at idle, but other that that all parts work well, and engine runs fine. Unfortunately this motor does not get my boat up to speed so to speak, (boat is quite heavy it seems 
) so I may be selling this one a getting a newer larger motor... anyway thanks of ryour help <br /><br />Richard
