Sounds like quality work. Seeing crap like that or scotch locks Pi$$e$ me off!!!

Scotch lock, UGH, I splice tel cable and I hated to see those things in a closure!!!!

(even if it was on the I+R's drop side (RA)

I pulled many an alarm or aftermarket garbage installed in a car. The jerks will do it 2 ways; Either bare the wire, wrap the wire they are tying in around the main wire, the bogger it up with 2 wraps of electrical tape, or use scotch locks which a good percentage of the time almost cuts the main wire in half.

Some of the installation kits for different things we would install for customers at the dealership would include the scotch locks. I would always chuck them. For me there are 3 acceptable repairs. Solder and shrink. Shrinkable crimps. Or posi locks for something you intend to take apart in the future.

Big difference between solid and stranded copper, I remember doing field cable, you tied the stranded cable together with a reef/square knot 1.5 inches between the insulation, solder (if in garrison) then a perfect cigar wrap with 3m 88 tape. YEAH!!!!
