For those of you with tandem axle trailers. Have brakes on one axle or both?

I added brakes on to the second axle of our trailer when I changed from hydraulic to electric. I like it. Is it worth it on a hydraulic system, that depends. I think since you are towing with a 1/2 ton truck it would be a nice addition.

Just one. I wish I ordered breaks on both but it does its job.

Electrics on both axles.
You REALLY DO NOT WANT the trailer passing you when you're easing yourself down Berthoud Pass.

i have an Sea Ray 20 foot open bow; boat wt is about 2500 loaded, with trailer is about 3500. i have tandom breaks front and back that are activated by an hydrolic slide on the toung that attaches to my ball. - it works great and i pull it with a Tahoe. very little effort to stop my truck which means lees break wate on the Tahoe.

Hello neighbor. Probably best not to respond to year old inactive threads, lest you bring down the wrath of the mods.

I'm so glad that I had disc brakes installed on both axles when I had my trailer built, the stopping power is great.

Wrath attracted . . . ;) Year old thread guys. OP hasn't posted in almost a year as well. Thank you for allowing it to rebury itself :)
