Been a while since I have been on the site, simply because I have been refurbishing my Tri-poon. At the end of the season last year I had the lower unit completely rebuilt (new everything), along with new reeds, fuel pump, and carb rebuilds on my 97' force 120. Was running great. It sat for few months while I was refurbing. About a month ago she was ready for her maiden with new cloths. Checked all while systems while on the trailer, and discovered that the motor would not engage into forward. Called the marina that did the work, and they took it right in. Called me a day later and told me it was ready (no charge). I asked what the fix was, and the Mech told me that a bolt was lodged against the shifting rod (internally). Took her out, and she ran great. Last weekend I had the wife & friends out, and she ran great for four hours. I was running about 4500 RPMs, and she lost power to the motor (all other power working - radio, lights etc...). I tried to re-start but only got "Clicks". Pulled cover and had wife try to turn it over, - Click,...Click. starter trying to push flywheel but not moving. Checked voltage - all batteries were fully charged. Raised motor, and tried to turn prop (while in neutral) and it was very hard to turn. Pulled all plugs (they looked good (no fouling, or burns). Tried to turn it over with plugs out - still click... click - nothing. Wrapped a rope around the flywheel pull start, but would not budge!! Called a buddy and he towed me back to ramp. Called marina again and told them what had happened. They want me to bring it in asap, but I can't get it there until tomorrow. Any ideas out there? I am afraid that it is seized up. I do not want any surprises from the marina mechanic. Oh by the way, I checked the water pee periodically during the four hours it was running (good stream). Is there anything I need to say to the mechanic so that does not try to pin this on me? Any suggestions or help is welcomed.
