I'm got a 96' bayliner with a force 120. It is a cdm ignition system. I'm not getting any spark from any of the cylinders. The problem was intermittent. The shop I took it to "Tracker boat center" swapped out the stator, trigger, all 4 cdms, and ran all tests on it. The flywheel has been swapped as well. There is no problem with the stop circuit. They ran all tests from the manuals and everything is testing correctly but no spark. This is happening on all 4 cylinders. The only info I found off is that the tech said that the trigger gets the signal (Between .2-2 volts at the cdm) but when everything is together and plugged in; it doesn't. The grounds are all good. Please help with what it could be. The shop gave me the boat back without charging me anything. They said that it should be working perfectly, but they can't get a spark; not even a small voltage. The Mercury tech supports says it sounds like cdm problems but were all replaced and swapped back and forth with my 4 and the 4 new.

Another detail is that when I first tested the boat; there wasn't any ground going to the backing plate where the trigger, rectifier, and cdm's were grounded to. I jumped a wire from the engine ground to the plate. Not sure if it helps but hopefully.

Ok, just did some more trouble shooting. I found that if I jump the signal wire coming from the trigger to the cdm using a battery for a signal that I get spark. That is telling me that the trigger is not giving the signal. I checked out the magnet on the inside of the flywheel and it has 1/2 north and 1/2 south magnetic fields and the wires are connected. What could be the problem. This is the 2nd trigger that didn't work.

You proved that the CDI pack is good, not that the trigger is bad. If the individual parts are all good, it has to be an installation problem. Try pulling the plugs and grounding them to a known good ground. If you get spark, try running a ground from the cylinder head to the CDI mounting plate and see if that fixes the problem.

I got a known good ground. I grounded the plugs upon testing to the same point I sistered to the backing plate. What all circuitry is involved with the trigger. I know 4 wires go to the cdms. The rest is magnetic from the flywheel and winding internally in the trigger. . . correct?
