Force 120 No fire

I have a 95 force 120 last summer i was at the lake and it was running fine until i killed it. When i went to leave it would not fire. I am needing help on troubleshootin the ignition system. Thanks

Did you shut it off with the switch or pull the kill lanyard?

Ive checked the black wire on the power pack and it loses ground when you turn the key on

Disconnect the black and yellow wires from the terminal board in the engine and try it. If it works, buy a new switch.

Have you checked to see that you are getting spark on all cylinders? Have you made sure you have no loose connections under the dash?

no spark on any cylinders. could not find any loose wires. I Unplugged the motor from the boat and jumped the solenoid and still no fire.

i checked the green wires coming out of the stator and had no continuity. I dont know if there should be. Does this mean the stator is bad??

My manual does not show any green wires on the stator.

Why would you suspect the stator has gone bad? Were you having any issues prior to turning it off?

No problems before i killed it but i have checked all the wire connections. it is a white with green and a green with white wire.

If you need to do electrical troubleshooting, you need to buy a Clymer Force Outboard Shop Manual. The green and white wires go to the trigger, not the stator. The stator wires are brown and stripe.

The resistance checks require a digital ohmmeter and vary depending which circuits you are testing. The Clymer manual gives you all of the particulars.

If the stator is the red piece up by the fly wheel like i think it is it has two yellow wires and the green wires. It comes out of the stator to a rectangular box comes out blue and goes to the switch box. what i thought the trigger was goes straight to the switch box, it has a purple, grey ,white and a black wires. I do have a dvom.

The stator has two sets of windings. The yellow wires go to the rectifier and provide charging voltage for the battery. The other wires are part of the CDI ignition circuit. The trigger has as many coils as you have cylinders. It too is part of the CDI ignition circuit.

You really need the book for the schematics and tests as it is too much to type here.
