This is for Dan K - I will try putting in the pisser - however you did not say what you
found out to be your chronic overheating problem - my guess is a design problem
making it sensative to water flowing in the engine.
Also the 2 holes at the back are for exhaust relief not water relief. That would be my
understanding. When the motor is moving thru the water the exhaust port is then wide
open and water and gas flow freely. When the motor stops the exhaust port is partially
blocked by the water so exhaust comes out of the 2 pee holes in addition to coming
out the prop hub and finned port - the water spitting out
the pee holes is just a by product of water being in the exhaust port. Do you agree
about the cooling analysis of the Force engine - that it is senstive to blockage or is
there always a reason why it overheats. Like a worn out pump or Thermostat?

Thanks!
deppong3@attbi.com

Re: Force 120HP - cooling

I've had the usual causes of may 120 Force overheating over the years. everything from faulty
temperature sensor, neglected impeller to actually installing the impeller backward- I have an actual factory 120 service manual with a photo of a properly installed impeller in the housing and it is totally oposite to my previous way of thinking.
Little known problem with early to mid 90's 120 is small head gasket failure in the area of temperature sensor water jacket. Causes combustion chamber leak just enough to cause hot spot near sensor. I did pull the head 4 years ago and sure enough the gasket had a small blow out near 2nd cylinder from top. They updated the gasket which is visibly much more beefy in sealing ring area. Not easy to diagnose because there was no performance indication. Maybe something to look into? The head comes off very easy.
Great sight for sharing and learning new information on sometime pain in the ass outboards.

Hey Dan K,

is that pisser you put in on the input side of the thermnostat or output?

is that water thats already cooled the engine, or is it just excess water?

I want to do the same thing, but IM wondering if thats going to take some cooling water out of the engine?

Re: Force 120HP - cooling

I just put the pisser on and it does not seem to divert water away from cooling. With the Force 120 HP 1994 you dont have a choice where you can connect the pisser. The only place is a 1/8 NPT connection right next to the Thermostat. So I'm assuming that its at the end of the engine and the cooling process. Hot water should be coming out of the pisser. We will see how it works - Dan K says it works just fine!
