I'm new to boating and 2 strokes, however i own a Bayliner capri for 6 hours last year b4 i has cylinder 2 rings melt to cylinder.

after fixing the piston and rings and honing the cylinder i got it back up and running. found that cylinder 1,2 (firing order 1,3) were running hot and would not get affected by the idle screw or and choking or pulling the spark plug.

adjusted the carb floats and cleaned all passages and checked butterfly linkage to one another and the carbs seem to be working fine.

how ever i went to do a load balance on the engine and i fine that cylinder 1,2 still do not affect the engine when the spark plug is pulled. and cylinder 4 causes the engine to run real weak. and if i unplug cylinder 3 (firing order 2) the boat will die .. (WHY ... .)

i checked the OMS on the CDI and they are 50 OMS on both. i checked the OMS on the stator and found that one side is 730 OMS and the Other is 530. but the side with the lower OMS is the side that works the best ????

the book states that the OMS should be between 700 and 900 oms

i ran the i out last night and the only had issues coming off idle jets and coming back on, around the 1200-2300 rpm.
after running for 30 -40 min and pulled plugs and they are looking even for the first time

questions:
why would all cylinders not have the same affect on when the spark plug is disconnected

how important is the resistants of the stator ?

what could my surging be from?

can anyone offer any idea/? thanks in advance .

do a search on the firing order, I believe it should be 1234, as to your other questions...
