BIGMO, Even though the impeller looks good, still replace it, these should be replaced every season, that is if you are running it alot, but every other season @ max. this is what i was told from the dealership. i have a force 150 that shares the same pump housing as yours. and mine didnt get replaced for 9 years!! that was a big NO NO!

Re: FORCE 125 COOLING

Bigmo,
This may be a dumb question, but did you check the water intake tube? You mentioned you checked the circuit above the waterpump, but did you check the circuit below the waterpump, the one in the lower unit?

Sometimes you get junk caught in the intakes and it can clog the system. I've seen this once before and it had the same symptoms that you've described.

And as chads15 said, it's ALWAYS a good idea to change the waterpump impeller when you've got the lower unit off.

Nav

Re: FORCE 125 COOLING

I just went through this a few weeks ago on mine when I packed the engine block with sand. ;)

On top of the back of the engine is a small cover with 4 screws. Remove that and pull out the thermostat. Run the garden hose through there and be sure the water come out the bottom (with the LU off).

With the impeller assy apart, run water through the lower unit also. Be sire the splines on the shaft going into the motor are OK, and be sure the woodruff key in the shaft for the impeller are OK. You should not get a stream of water out the telltale like most motors. It just kinda sprays a mist when its working right.

To test, I removed all the plugs, left the thermostat housing off, and with the ears (or in water) crank the engine to see that water come out the top. Easiest way to test....

Good luck!

Be careful with ears and force motors. I have yet to see one consistently run good with them on, but boy have I heard a lot of warning horns...

Your thermo is stuck shut replace it asap with a new one around $12. I had the same problem with mine I would not get any water out the telltale, impeller was fine with the new thermo it squirts water at start up.

Yep, most of the water comes out the exhaust.

Very little comes out the telltale and only when its running.

If you have the ears on, only let it idle and never more then a few minutes.

Re: FORCE 125 COOLING

If yours is plugged with sand, heres how I cleaned mine.

With LU on and ears on with water going, I removed all the sparkplugs. I also removed the thermostat housing.

I then cranked over the motor, with a shop vac over the opening of the thermostat housing. About 10 minutes of that cleaned out the block nicely.
