I purchased this boat about three weeks ago, since Ive had the boat I replaced the water pump, thermostat, and spark plugs. I took it out on the lake today and when i started to give it gas it would bog down and the engine would stall. It would take some time to get it running again, I could put around at low speed a couple of minutes and it would do the same thing. Any suggestions please reply.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to iboats. Best thing is to get or do a compression test first. If compression numbers are good rebuild the fuel pump (easy and cheap), get rid of any old gas and use new gas mixed 50 to 1 with a good quality outboard motor oil. If problems still persist the carbs will have to be cleaned and rebuilt. Not too expensive for the carb kits but does require the ability to take things apart and put them back together again.

If compression numbers are good get a service manual. Either factory, clymor or syloc. Also use the red search button on top and do a ton of reading. There are many threads with this problem.

Engine should run better with high compression numbers. My guess is it is the fuel pump needs to be rebuilt and possibly old gas. These are the easiest things to do and the cheapest. Fuel pump may not be the problem but for 10 bucks it is worth it. With all the alcohal in gas these days it dont take but a couple of years before the diaphram gets as hard as plastic.
