I READ IN THE MANUAL THAT YOU HAVE TO USE BLUE COILS WITH THE BLUE CDS. HAS ANY ONE MIXED AND MATCHED THESE WITH THE BLACK CDS OR COILS? ALSO HOW DOES ANY ONE CHECK THE STATOR? THE MANUAL KEEPS REFERING TO THE PEAK READING METER. CAN A REGULAR DIGITAL METER DO THIS? MINE IS A SPERRY 350.

Re: FORCE 125 IGNITION

Blue is 'Prestolite' ignition. It will not function with 'Thunderbolt' parts. They don't mix.

Your digi meter will werk, in the 400VAC scale. It will read slightly less than the 280PVAC That I think it should read peak.
You can also do a resistance check on the stator. You Prestolite ignition is explained, (nd troubleshooting procedures start) on page 58 in the Clymer manual. It's 5 pages or so long, so I wont go there. But if you run into problems, let me know.

Re: FORCE 125 IGNITION

On a 125 hp,1988,Force with all blue electrics a CD burned out last year. My wrench put on a black used one and so far so good. I noticed at the time but kept quiet since it was 95 degrees outside during the repair and his son burned one of their CD's by leaving the ignition on and checking something. They only charged for one.
