Force 125 lower unit w/ no drain plug?

Guys, my 1987 Force 125 lower unit has a vent plug, fill plug and that little screw (at the bottom)Guess thats the linkage screw. But I can't find where I would drain the oil if I wanted to change it. Also I went to register on bl owners club, but was denied because my email addy and no referral. I'm trying to find info on a top for my 1987 bayliner cobra 1800. Iboats doesn't list them for a cobra. Don't understand why I was denied.

if it anything like my 1985 85 hp you look at the bottom of the motor by the skeg there should be an allen head bolt that you take out to drain the lower unit. I usually tilt the motor up take the screw out then lower it. It makes it easier to see what you are doing Its actually on the bottom of the lower unit.

You need to look a bit closer. The drain plug could be a stainless, slotted pipe plug just in front of the skeg on the bottom of the gearcase torpedo. It could also be a plug that looks just like the vent and fill in the center of the skeg on the same side as the vent and fill or again in front of the skeg. OR----It could be a socket head 5/16 set screw at the bottom of the nose of the torpedo just in front of the skeg. This frequently gets filled with crud and can be difficult to see.

It is NEVER a smaller slotted screw recessed into the side of the front of the gearcase torpedo. This is the shift yoke pivot.

Look on the underside of the lower unit housing in the front of the skeg you will see a small set screw under there, that is wear you drain the lower unit oil, don't mess with the screwdriver slotted screw on the lower front of the lower unit that has to do with the shift mechanism "can be bad news if you remove that."

Tavett, We look to have the same question. I am witerizing my 86 Bayliner now it to has a 125 Force Motor. I am looking for the correct way to drain my lower unit have you been able to do it yet?

Tavett, I have a 1988 cobra bow rider that I tried to find a factory top for ,and no luck. There are plenty of universal tops that will work and look good too at iboats, I just hadn't had a chance to order one yet[busy with customer's cars and boats, which is A GOOD thing to have as an excuse in these tough times],but they are out there ,just have to measure your boat to get the proper fit.
