Took boat out for first time couple of weeks ago,and only got a half mile before it overheated and had to be towed back.(thanks towboat). Trouble was the impeller was gone, it was replaced last year and impeller probly doest have 6 hours on it. Mechanic reports that previous repair left out the thermostat and all the related fittings. repairing this will i have better luck.

I have gotten bad impellers before. I had a 12 blade with the brass insert separate from the rubber. Impeller looked good but the brass insert would just spin on the driveshaft. Get a new one and hopefully you will get a couple of years out of it. You definatly dont want to run the motor without a thermostat. When you order one make sure you get a new housing gasket and a grommet for the thermostat.
