Hello there,

I had a bad memorial day weekend. I bought a bayliner last fall its a 1987 with force 125 on it. It started fine, on low idle speeds runs real rough shaking the boat. When opened it up full speed took off good and shaking stop. so i decided to run real slow was actually trolling with fishing pole about 15 mins doing that and the engine hestitated and then suddenly shut off. I look back at it and smoke coming out from under the cover. I got the cover off and was red hot. on cylinder head the metal was smoking. My question is would this be the water pump and propeller inside there. Now the motor turns over but won't start no more. How much damaged could i possible done. Any info would be great. Thanks tom

Re: force 125 overheated

It sounds like the impeller failed.Remove the plugs and spray WD-40 in the cylinders and do a compression test. Then a spark test.Post your results.J

Re: force 125 overheated

Ok so i just did those test that you advised me to do. compression test from top to bottom, first 2 spark plugs near top get 130 and the other 2 spark plugs near bottom get 140. As for the spark, i get nothing on all four cylinders trying different plugs. Now i do have appointment at marine repair tomorrow, how bad does this sound to you. They already said they would repair the impeller for 75.00, i am just going to let them do that and see what else they find.

If it got real hot the magnet in the flywheel might have let loose.J
