Re: Force 125 rebuild

I've been busy working on the interior of my boat but today I put the block back on the bench and got going. I put the new pistons together with connecting rods and bearings, checked the ring gaps and put them in the cylinders. I would like to replace the seal on the lower main. I can't find any info on the best way to remove the old one. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is your recommendation for sealant on main bolts etc.? ThanksIMG_5282.jpgIMG_5283.jpg

I got around to putting the crank back in today. Holly shnizzle that was harder than I thought it would be. It just wouldn't sit down on all the bearing pins at the same time. I must of had it in and out 15 times. In the end I figured that the seals weren't sitting in their grooves properly. I cut small pieces of cardboard and slid them under the seals to hold them up while I worked the bearing on to the pins. That did the trick. Time for a celebratory beer. For those who are interested, follow this thread to see how I dealt with the lower crank seal. http://forums.iboats.com/force-chrysler-outboards/force-125-lower-crankshaft-seal-589189.html

Re: Force 125 rebuild

I've got the power head pretty well buttoned up. I used red silicon on the main bolts and all the split case bolts. I used anti-cease on the exhaust cover. I'm wondering what is best for the head bolts? Any suggestion will be appreciated. I can't seem to find any references in other threads.

Thanks Jerry, I want to rebuild the fuel pump. Iboat has been out of rebuild kits for weeks. I found individual parts on another site. Other than the filter and the diaphragm, what parts should I replace? Thanks in advance.

Re: Force 125 rebuild

Finally got this all back together. I hung it all up in my shed and gave it a fresh coat of paint. I went with the older style Chrysler hood. All of the plastic trim pieces were cracked and broken. I used epoxy and mesh on the back side; cab and epoxy to rebuild the screw holes; grooved the cracks with a dremil and filled with body filler. Next comes wiring and fuel system.
