Force 125 Trim Bleeds/ Lifts slowly

First I'll admit I'm somewhat ignorant about outboards. I have an 89 Force 125 that the tilt up recently became very slow, then bleeds off somewhat quickly. Can anyone give some advise in this problem? By the way, no signs of leakage anywhere. Thanks

Try search and see what you can find. If you cannot solve problem, bump back to top. The pilot check valves seals are leaking.

Reinstall one of the snap rings, and try to blow the other one out with hyd pressure from the pump, once you have the one valve out, remove the shuttle valve with a pick or needle nose plyers, then push the other valve out with a dowel.

Thanks for answering me Clanton. I've read some other situations similar to mine, and I'm to the point of taking out the plugs before the pilot vavle, but I am having a hard time getting the plugs out. I just want to make sure I'm going after the right thing here. The plugs I'm talking about are behind a snap ring on each side of the pump near the bottum. I've got the snap rings out and have tried prying lightly out on the plugs but they don't seem to want to come out. By the way, one is marked "Manual Release". Any recommendations?? Thanks

Clanton, got it apart, I read a posting regarding the seals where you wrote that some can be bought at Sears. I was hoping youy could tell me which ones and some part numbers. Sorry for the pain... also I thought I read that there should be rubber tips on the shuttle valve. Is that correct? Mine didn't have anything on it when disassembled, just bare steel. If you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!

The shuttle valve only has the o-ring in the center. Remove the 2 o-rings from valve use a blunt tool in o-ring groove to remove steel cap/plug from valve, if cap hard to remove soak in hot water, inside valve is spring and needle,seal is on end of needle. remove remains of old seal install new seal. New seal has bevel on inside dia, this bevel goes toward the needle.<br />Part number for seal is Mercury pn 820719. The sears number I had is not a good number. If you cannot find seals, I have 2, they cost me about 4.00 each.

Clanton@atlantic.net You could try a 3/16 o-ring, the edge of the o-ring has to sit above the groove in the needle. I have 2 seals I can mail to you, cost is what new one cost me and postage.

So how many o-rings does one person need to replace pilot check valves and shutter valves seals. I want to attempt this project but I want all my pats available. i think I'll get a fill screw o-ring too

Please just the # of o-rings for the 2 pilot valves and the 1 shuttle valve,Quote "The problem in the valve body is the seal on the pilot valve pn 820719" does that mean order 2, one for each pilot valve?
