I'm doing some winter puttering until I get a shop manual for some serious fixes. I've taken<br />out the thermostat for a hot water test and block flush. Now I forgot which way it goes back.<br />It's on a Force 125HP 1989. I'm embarassed.<br />Bud bud@telus.net

Re: Force 125hp thermostat. Which way in?

budblas, I don't know of a consciecious mechanic that would touch the question as posed with a ten foot pole.If you are unable to determine flow direction of t/stat from engine block I would wait until your manual arrives.I'd hate to be the one that led to some confusion and aided in overheating your motor.<br />" Generally speaking "the thermo bulb of t/stat is in the flow path of the engines water jacket containing circulation until engine is up to temp.

First off, don't be embarassed. We all leave the old plugout from time-to-time.The bar-like piece faces in.

Hi budblas, I have the original Force 125 shop mnaual, the thermostat goes in the block with the part that looks like a ribbed bellows or spring facing out into the removable cover, the hook looking part goes in the block. Also look for a small bypass slot near one end of the bellows/spring, that little slot faces towards the top of the engine, good luck, Ken

I know this is a super old thread but since you have the manual does anyone have a pic of where the thermostat is on a 125hp force? 80s model
