I got a 1985 Force 15 outboard as part of a boat deal. The motor runs fine once given a bit of gas but at the idle speed, out of gear or in gear the motor coughs about every 5-10 seconds and will die if more gas is not applied. I have trhe manual for it but am not sure where to start the diagnosis. Is this a carb related problem or an ignition issue at low idle? Any help in diagnosing is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

That what we call "lean sneezing" Your idle circuit is stopped up. Remove carb and clean with carb cleaner and install a kit.

Thanks Trent for the help... Do you mean a carb kit? and if so where do you get something for such an old motor like this?
