i need to get the old gas out of a 140 gallon tank on my bayliner trophy, anything i can do to clean the tank out so i know there is no debre in there?<br />its buried in the hull
Sounds like you have an older (early '90s) 2302 Trophy. How full is the tank? Getting rid of 140 gallons maybe tough. The easiest way would be to use a high capacity electric fuel pump through your existing filter and out to an appropriate container. Ghange the filter when done. You can access the line(s) from the inspection plate in the motor well. Another way (not what I would use) is to use a small air compressor to presurize the tank through the vent and have the line going to the motor in again an appropriate container.
Please read my post again. Syphoning will take FOREVER and would need to be done with the hose out the transom drain hole. Go to a discount auto parts house and get an electric fuel pump. Keep it outside the boat and pump the fuel out. There should be two pickup fittings on the tank (one will be capped for a single engine boat). With the correct fitting in place and proper hose connected, you can pump the fuel out from that pickup. Please tell us how old is the fuel and how much is in the tank.
Did you use Stabil in the tank when you put the boat up? Unless it smells "BAD", put 75 gallons in it and run it. Just make sure you have a fuel/water seprating filter installed.
