F5. Sorry you brushed whiteforce off - the guy really knows Force motors relally good! Anyway, those are the exact problems I ran into on my 150 Force. I could not have anticipated the $$$. But when you said it ran only 20MPH, that game me flashbacks. My motor had a scored piston. Best bet weqs to find a used motor and have it installed. I did that for about $1,200. The force would have costs twice that much without much guarantee. Good luck. ;)

Re: Force 150 no high end revs

Got the call from the shop yesterday. Plan to get it after the new year. Hope the weather is nice to dip it in to see if the old performance is there. We looked at the options at the time (new/used/used rebuilt/rebuild existing) but decided to go with the rebuild existing since the first was big bucks and the second had no guarentee. Sorry to have slammed anyone in the forum.

The jury is still out till I see the finished engine and run it myself.

Re: Force 150 no high end revs

Took it out today and ran it for 4 hours around and around and around. Doubled up on the oil. I think somewhere along the line someone swapped out my prop it still doesn't pop out of the hole and hit the top speed like it use to.

At 3500rpm it would only go 30 mph. That's with a full tank and only me aboard. I use to hit 35mph with the wife and three kids and a cooler.

I'm positive the prop was 21 degress pitch and cupped. The one on it now is 12 5/8 in. and 21 deg pitch non-cupped.

Would the cupping make that much difference?

Other than that the motor starts with no issues, runs smooth in all the rpm ranges as well as in the no wake zone (were it use to die just as you approached the dock on a windy crowded day).

Any help on the prop would be great.

Correction the prop is cupped as indicated by another marking on the outer surface (21C)

Now I'm really concerned.

There is one other item that is not on the prop that was before. I think it was a thrust plate. It looke like a very large aluminum washer (~3' diameter) placed between the prop and prop nut. That's missing, now.

Re: Force 150 no high end revs

:D :D
Finally!!!!!
The Arriva Force F5 150 HP is back to the 48 MPH @4800 rpm speed demon it once was.
The throttle cable linkage and carbs were re-adjusted and the hole shots and top speed are back to what they once were.

The 21 pitch cupped prop issue was a non-issue. Teh large 'washer' thing was probably some after market gimmick that was of no benefit.

Cold starts have been reduced due to proper choke engagement. Press the choke in first and hold it in then engage the starter. If performed in the reverse sequence the starter draws all the current so the solenoid for the choke can not function as designed.

:D :D

Thanks for the props, ATMUNSHI, I appreciate it. I also could have saved him a couple grand and a few months of downtime. Anyway, we live and we learn. At least he is running again.
