Force 15hp - What's this hole for?

I've got a 15hp Force outboard. Just above the connector port for the fuel hose, there is a threaded hole. It's about the size that might take a spark plug, but when you lift the cover you see that the hole connects to nothing. What do you think it's for?

ok wild quess. <br /><br />1. it was bored out so merc can save some money on plastic<br /><br />2. it is for the cables to the battery<br /><br />3. its an "extra" spark plug holder<br />???

How about some sort of connector for a remote shift or throttle control.
