force 1986 125hp spark issues

Hello,
My 125hp Force has been giving me problems for some time. Prior owner had a new stator, trigger, rectifier, and one cdi box put on. I bought the boat and found 1 & 3 were backwards from the cdi box to the stator. Ran good for a short time. Now no spark on #1 & #3.
Put used cdi boxes on and still no spark on #1 & #3. Is this a stator problem or a trigger problem? I have a used stator I can try. I did swap coils around and the condition didnt follow.

I would bet trigger, but you might as well try the stator since you already have one.

That is my guess too. Not much more it could be. I am going to try the stator for kicks. A marina told me a stator totaly works or it is totaly dead. Not to sure if this is true or not. The trigger is new but may have been damaged by other guy who worked on it. I was told by the prior owner that the guy working on it burned up a brand new cdi box, may have hurt the trigger too???
