Trying to figure out throttle cable adjustments on a 1990 Force 50.

When put in forward gear, it engages the drive, but can move the throttle forward about 30 degrees before it the throttle cam (#2) starts to move. Can't get full throttle.

#4 was backed out 1/4", but not sure if that's the issue. Looks like it engages forward drive.

#3 looks like cable adjustment

#1 looks like throttle cam adjustment.

I can't find any kind of technical service manual for this, to get the proper procedure. I am hoping someone on here can provide some insight.

Many thanks in advance.

The connector for the throttle is spring loaded (#3).
The purpose of this is that the gear shifter will engage the gear fully before the throttle starts to move.
The adjustment of the throttle connector is that the spring has to move about 1/4 in to fit into the ball connector.
Then adjust the throttle rod (#1) soo the throttle butterfly is horizontal when remote control is fully forward.
Then adjust the idle screw at the timing tower.
First before this adjustment you have to check that the throttle pick up point (#2) is okey.

Thank You @Nordin .

I didn't adjust the throttle connector at all. It's as it was when we took the outboard and linkage off the donor boat. Just reinstalled it as it was.

The throttle pickup point has line on it. I assumed throttle rod should be adjusted so the plastic roller bushing starts at that line. ( The roller is fine, no grooves or cracks in it.)

When I adjust the throttle rod to get the butterflies horizontal, that line is 1/2 inch below the roller.

In testing in the water barrel, it raises the idle a bit when I start it, but starts fine. Re-adjusted idle mixture for the new speed.

Will give it a test this Saturday morning and see how it goes on the lake.

Curious if I should adjust anything on the shifter control side? It's a US Marine control that came off the bayliner.

The scribed line at the throttle cam is the throttle pick up point.
You adjust the throttle pick up point by losing the throttle rod from the ball at either the cam or the timing tower. Be careful when losing the rod from the ball, it can break the plastic connector.
The roller i mounted with a screw with a locking nut and it is eccentric.
You loose the nut a little and the turn the screw soo the roller intersect the line when it touch the cam.
Fasten the roller in that position by the nut.
Now the throttle pick up point is adjusted.
The roller will be above the line when you have adjusted the idle, it is just normal.
You adjust the idle by the screw at the timing tower, the mixture screw at the carb is a air/fuel mixture screw.
It should general be 1-1 1/2 turned out from lightly seated.
Do not adjust it less than 1 turn out, the idle can be better with it less than 1 turn out.
BUT the mixture at WOT can be to lean and you can melt a piston.
This screw is for low speed, but on these Walbro or Tillotson carbs it act at high speed too.
