1988 force 50 hp, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, new carb overhaul, tank vent is full open, 130 compression, both, hard to start, idles fine, anything after that, motor dies out, will restart but only idle, idle adjustment screw seems to make motor sound better at 1/2 turn out floods out at 1 and 1/2, still no speed above idle in gear, no matter were it is set.

Re: force 50 hp performance.

When mine did that there was a hole in the fuel pump diaphram. Check that and the little screen in there.

Your idle screw should be out 1 1/8 turns. when were your carb redone maybe it needs to be cleaned again, or possibly the float is stuck.

Re: force 50 hp performance.

Is the carb butterfly opening when the throttle is advanced?
Is the timing advance linkage above the carb, still connected to the trigger?

Re: force 50 hp performance.

you might check your fuel pump check valves to see if their stuck,as this wouldn't allow enough fuel to get to the carbs. MOPARMAN

both plugs are new, check valves move in and out, all three of them. still have a very weak fuel shot. carb is full opened as is the timing advance lever. this driving me nuts.

Re: force 50 hp performance.

An earlier thread talked about a small hole behind the fuel pump getting clogged. This hole is where the vacuum/pressure comes from to actuate the diaphram which in turn pumps the fuel.
