Force 50 question

On a 1996 Force 50 outboard I just purchased, there is some sort of adjustable rudder or tracking fin mounted just above the prop. Since I have NO owners manual, does anybody know what it is called, what it does, how do I know if it is adjusted correctly, and if not, how do you adjust it? I know it is a lot of little questions but judging from the forum, it should be a piece of cake for most of you. Thanks.

Re: Force 50 question

That fine displaces an amount of water depending upon how you set it to counter-act the torque of the prop which wants to make the motor turn.
If , at speed, your boat tends to pull to one direction an adjustment is needed.

Someone else will jump in and explain it better I hope.

Re: Force 50 question

I guessed something along this line. The steering is a bit stiff, so where I set the wheel, she goes. This being the case, it is possible that this fin may very need adjustment and I don't know it?
