I have a Force 50 that has always started on the first turn of the ignition key. My battery is fully charged and last week
I had to turn the key 10-15 times with no sounds or clicks and then it finally started. What is the likely problem?
Thank You for your help!

+1, but also could be misadjustment of the Neutral Start switch.

Neutral safety switch.
No sound??Can be the key switch, dirty.
Spray WD-40 in the switch.
Like JB says the neutral safety switch make sure it's adjusted right.
Or try wiggling the shifter???

Re: Force 50 starting problem

Try using a multimeter to trace the power in the switch circuit.

Set it to volts DC. Disconnect the yellow wire from the starter solenoid so you can turn the key without the starter working. Negative from the multimeter to the negative battery terminal. Then use the positive lead from the multimeter to test different points along the circuit to see if the power is still there. Eg. From the ignition switch first, then follow the yellow wire to just before the next item in the circuit and test again. When you loose power the thing you are testing is faulty. Once you have repaired this move on until you reach the connecter that was off your starter solenoid.

Check to see what voltage you are getting at terminal C (diagrams next post) on the starter solenoid when you turn the key. You should have close to 12 volts.

Re: Force 50 starting problem

A couple of quick tests.

Jumping A to B bypasses the solenoid and checks the main wires from the battery and the starter.

Jumping from A to C checks the solenoid is working as well.

If the first test works but the second doesn't you have a faulty solenoid or the wire connecting to D is not eathed properly. ChecK D is earthed and recheck using test 2.
