The A and C refer to production runs, and tell which components were used on different production runs. Some parts may have come from a different supplier, or had a different part altogether. Maybe a different carb, or in this case, CD unit or entire ignition system.<br /><br />Buying a part from a different production run may, or may not work with the rest of the components on your engine.<br /><br />Try this website. They have the CD units listed by year, then by serial number. If you click on the yellow button to the right if the item, it will show you a picture and a written description of the part.<br /><br />
