I have a 1991 Force 70 hp which doesn't seem to have a separate Pisser.

Just had impeller replaced (yes, after overheat buzzer and all related fun)

Mechanic said water expelled thru exhaust (3 holes in back of lower unit) since hole at top of motor is sealed up.

Does this make sense?

It should expell water from midway up the motor if there is no teltail hole in the motor. Echaust should come out thru the propeller or thru the holes in the mid section. Check both places. Make sure you are giving the motor water thru the ear muffs on the lower leg!!!

Hey, after you had the impeller replaced, does yours pump water out the three holes on the lower unit when you're sitting at idle?? Mine doesn't, and I'm thinking that's a BAD thing!! It kinda 'pulses' water out as you're running, so maybe I'm missing some fins on the impeller.. I've run mine WOT for at least 10 mile stretches w/ no warning buzzers (assuming the buzzer works!) so I dunno if this is normal or not. Whether or not water is circulating OK seems to be a common question w/ these motors...

Re: Force 70 hp Pisser?

Thks for replies. I belive that water comes out the back 3 holes but will look more carefully on weekend +.

cmjust0 - overheat alarm is separate from horn (mounted under dash somewhere). Wasn't sure what it was when it first went off but hard to miss or believe its a good thing. Wouldnt make it 1/2 mile from dead cool to overheat.

When I saw old impeller, looked fine with nicely curved fins; then I learned they're supposed to be straight.

Bought motor used this year as 3rd owner from a grandfather who only tooks it out on Sundays (and know impeller wasnt replaced since 1996, if ever). Only other problem I'm aware of was fairly expensive stator app. 3 yrs ago.

See also gass guzzler

All the Chrysler type Force outboards I have seen do not have a nice telltale like every other outboard on the market. They send most of the water out the exhaust (underwater over the prop) and have 2 holes that are basically exhaust ports. They should just be spitting small amounts of water when its working properly.

The best thing I did for my 125 Force was remove the thermostat. It flowed TONS of water and actually idled and WOT better then it ever did before.
