I am not getting full power from my 85/85 Force. I have replaced the stator (no fire on one cylinder), soaked carbs, changed plugs. On the power pack that fires the #3 cylinder there are two coil leads...an orange one and a red one...does it matter if the red or orange lead is used? (the orange lead is dead..yet the red one is hot and i am using the red lead...yet it doesn't seem to run right). Or will it effect the timing? How do I check the Fuel Pump? This motor is on a little 15 1/2 foot boat and only runs 25 MPH. Where do I start? Thanks for any help.

Re: Force 85/85

Forcefull,First you need a manual. They are available at NAPA and others. It will help you identify wires and how to troubleshoot.<br />Unhook line to carb from fuel pump carefully crank and watch for a good flow of gas. Be careful gas fumes are heavy and very dangerous.Check compression.Should be about 100lbs. and within 10% cylinder to cylinder. If it needs a major investment think long and hard about this orphan.
