Just wanted to put out some positives for the ol' Force group. The repair forums are often full of bad news (thats what they are for)...so I just wanted to state my good news and experience.
I'm almost finished my winterization and storage on my '90/90hp Force and the only remaining item to do is to run the motor up on the muffs and shut it down with a good fogging.
I did a post season compression test on it and the readings were positive (120/127/127 dry and 132/136/137 wet). I had done 2 decarbs on it this season and that seemed to keep things up to spec.
The motor is part of the original boat/motor combo purchased in 1990 (Bayliner Capri 18'/Force 90hp) and to my knowledge (3rd owner) has something in the neighbourhood of 450 hrs on it now. This should give a few more years of good service at this rate.
The motor has been very reliable and has never let us down in 3 seasons. We have well over 100 outings on it and I must say its been great value and a good unit. This is probably testament to getting a motor (and boat) with a good history...which apparently is the money shot when buying used, not necessarily buying via the name brand approach.
Next season I will do the fuel pump, the thermostat and install an in-line fuel filter (thanks Frank!) ...all as recommended, to ensure the good times continue. Testament to the excellent advice here in the forum.
Anywhooo, just sharin' some good news and some good history for the Force crowd.

ps: Oh, and here a few pics of the 'ol Combo.
