Im looking to replace my old and loose magnet on 90hp flywheel. Where could I get a kit for these 6 magnets ?

If the magnet is still intact, most folks just clean up the area to be glued from rust, grease etc. and use some high temp epoxy like JB Weld or similar product. If the magnet is not usable, then a used flywheel from the auction sites are available. 1990 and earlier flywheels are common. 1991 and later not as common but still available.

Six magnets is the Merc flywheel, usually 1995 and later. I don't think Merc offers a kit since they most likely buy their flywheels from a manufacturer like Prestolite. Best solution is as stated above: Re-glue or buy a used flywheel.

I lost two magnets. THey were broken and smashed.

I read from other post that there are a magnet kit by Mercury. But this is all I found: http://www.offshoremarineparts.com/4304/prod_6646.html

and they're for Evinrude/Johnson flywheel.

Wondering if that will work with some modifications since it looks like the magnet is a bit wider.

DONT! Flywheels are balanced. Unless you make the new magnets the same weight as the existing ones or replace all six you will throw out the balance. ---Oh, you may be able to "get away with it." But for the cost, fuss, and bother it would be easier to just buy a good used flywheel on the auctions.

Can't find one at a reasonable price? I have one off a 40 that should fit but it aint gunna be real cheap either since I would be parting out a whole ignition. I would need to check position of the center trigger magnet first anyway.

Thanks Frank, I have seen one on Ebay for about $75 s/h included. But now im trying to take the magnets off the 120hp flywheels that I had lying around. Its a bit a pain since I did glue it with JB weld. Im soaking it off in acetone right now. Hopefully, overnight it will soften up and I can remove the magnets to put on the 70hp flywheel. If that wont work, Im shooting for the one on Ebay.

Re: Force Flywheel Magnets- kits ?

Acetone didnt do anything to the JB weld. SO i ordered a replacement from Ebay. Also order a used voltage regulator as well. The old one burnt out so bad, it dripped all the plastic all over the engine area.

Now my new question is could the loose magnet caused the stator to melt the voltage regulator or is the stator producing too much power to the voltage regulator ?

I have a newer stator type without insulation. I think they are producing a 16amps output compared to the old one at 14amps.
I also noticed that there are six wires coming out, two extra wires aren't used and wired to the engine as ground. Is that a significant ground wire ? or could i just cut it off.
