I have a gamefisher 7.5hp I am working on right now. It is actually a chrysler/force outboard with sears badges on it. Anyway, it is not getting spack to the bottom cylinder. I pulled the flywheel and the one contact was not opening. I set it to .020 like it says but still no spark.

How can I test the coil with my multi meter? What do i do and what am I looking for?

I too am having spark problems on a gamefisher. I know my coil is good though. To test the coil set the mulitmeter to x1000 ohms. If your coil has the plug wire built in, touch one end to the end of the wire making contact and the other end to ground at the magneto. Should read between 5 and 8. If it reads good try the same thing while moving and bending the plug wire. The wire itself may be shorting. That tests your big wire in the coil. I've yet to see the small wire be burned up in a coil.

To test your points you can use the same setting, with the points open, and touch 1 lead to each side of the points contacts. It should 0 out.

Condensors. Unhook the wire from the ground. Touch one lead to the end of the wire and the other to the condesnor. It shouldn't read anything. If it does the condensor is bad.

I also found my own problem..The points weren't cleaned good enough. 1000 grit sand paper in closed gap points, pull it out or work lightly if you can. Mines running like new now.
