I have a 1988 85 hp force,I removed the shift pivot screw and had to tear the l/u down to fix it all has went well.the only thing bothering me is that now whe I shift into forward or reverse the prop is locked both ways. in neutral it spins free both ways .I can put it in forward and turn the flywheel and the prop turns correctly,In reverse the prop turns the opposite direction.I have unhooked the shift lever and worked with it manually but the prop always locks both ways. I have not started the motor since the repair. Is the prop suppost to lock both ways on this motor? If not any suggestions?---Troy

Re: force l/u question

Hey tmiller. I have a chrysler 45hp. Just went out to the garage and checked mine. When I put it in forward or reverse you can not spin the prope either way. Sounds as though you did it right. When in forward the prop should spin one way with the drive shaft spinning. When you shift into reverse and turn the drive shaft the same way the prop will spin the opposite direction. In neutral you should be able to spin prop in both directions with your hand. Turning the drive shaft while in neutral the prop should not spin.
