The later ones were. What year 125hp is it ? the later force by merc had an adapter plate to mount the force motor to the merc lower leg if I'm not mistaken. You have to check the splines on the drive shaft to make sure they are the same, check the wiring also as they changed some colors on later motors that might throw you a curve, but some early year 120 hp would swap out to the later 125's as far as bolting up to the sport jet you'll have to do it the old fashion way and compare them.

You need to either recheck the year of the replacement motor you are looking at or the hp. If it is a mid/late 90's it would be a 120hp.
Force (Mercury) did not make a 125hp motor...that would have been a late 80's Force Chrysler.
Post a pic or two, it will help.

for whatever it's worth ....

Force is only a good engine if you plan on doing your own maintenance. If you figure on letting the marina handle maintenance then maybe it isn't such a good choice. They'll sell you the $40 quicksilver version of the same $2 radio shack rectifier that Chrysler used. Plus you'll get newest mechanic install at full book prices. On the other hand, if you are a good yard mechanic then Chrysler/Force is about best engine ever made. Cheap and easy to maintain with a ton of industry standard parts - for example, check stators from mercury. Standard magneto out of detroit sells chrysler stators for under $150.
