I was wondering if someone knew if you had to use a special tach for a 125 Force(1989 model year) or wil any tach work? Or I also saw someone mention using a "Tiny Tach" that you hook to a spark plug wire and to the engine ground. Where are these available at and how well do they work?
Thanks

Re: Force Tach. ?

Haven't used the TinyTach but I got a simlar unit made by a company called CompuTime that came on a motorcycle I bought. It works great. You get both an hour meter and tachometer in one package. It's water proof and reasonably easy to read in bright sunlight. It's got an internal button battery that has lasted for at least 9 months. The thing has a special wire lead which you wrap around one of your plug wires. The only other connection is a ground wire. The wire lead on mine is a special design. You can't shorten or lengthen it. Be sure you get enough wire on the unit to reach from your motor to your instrument panel. Or if you didn't want to string wire, you could just mount the tach on the engine cover.

Here's the TinyTach web site:
http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach.html

Re: Force Tach. ?

Does anyone know what model Tiny Tac to use with a 3 cylinder outboard (Yamaha)? Would it be the 1c or the 2c? It mentions a resistor..would I have to add one of those to get the reading to read correctly?

Thanks!
