I am confused as to the BEST Fluid for 1988, 85HP Force Tilt/Trim. The "CLYMER" Manual Lists 10W-40, for External Pumps, which I believe I have. On other Topic someone assumed this means NON-DETERGENT. I am not aware of any 10W-40 Non Detergent Oil. Also on an another Topic Clanton suggested using ATF. The fluid in my Pump is almost clear, like 10W-40 or Power Steering Fluid. Most ATF Fluid is Redish.
My unit is Operating Fine, but could use a little Fluid to bring it up to the Fill Hole.
Thanks for Anyone's Help
John

Re: Force Tilt /Trim question for Clanton

The orignal operators manuals calls for 20wt non-detergent motor oil.
