force to merc swap

Hi folks. Im a newby here, a mechanic by trade, and a boater for years. I have a little 17 foot Maxum that had a underpowered 50HP Force outboard. I bought a 70 Merc with console, controls, and cables. My question is this....Is there any way to do this swap and adapt the engine wiring from the Force.? I can make the steering cable work, and have a foot throttle and manual jack plate. My only issue is the engine wiring. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
