Ford max RPM

My friend has a 28 foot 1975 AMC Slickcraft cabin cruiser with twin 351 Ford inboards. He is running 14X10 props. I need to know what the max RPM for this set up is. I have no idea what his gear ratio is.

Also, and I know this is probably a dumb question, but is this a planing or displacement hull. I think I already know the answer, but my friend is arguing the point with me. Thanks for any help!

Re: Ford max RPM

Without a picture, whose to know what type of hull it is. I would speculate, however, with twin 351's, it is likely a planing hull.

As for the redline, I would say that 4600 is safe for those engines.

4600-4800 sounds about right. Also can't see that boat having twin V8 power if it was a displacement hull. Most things in the 28' displacement range are single engine, or they have two small motors.

According to Mercruiser manual #1 3800-4200 WOT RPM.
