ford ranger sputtering?

my ford ranger started sputtering yesterday when i started to back my boat under the shed. it hasnt stopped yet.

anyone know what the problem might be?

Start with the ignition system.

Still has plugs and wires (8 ea.). "Tune-up" is a misnomer these days but everyone still calls it one. Wires can break down around 80k, likely in 95.

it has 265,500 miles on it. and as far as i know its probably never had at tune-up.

Might be a good place to start.

found the problem. put it in the shop, the spark plugs were shot, the air filter was complety stopped up, and the ignition control modualer (spelling) was out. and he did a tune up.

I thought I was good at squezzing out low cost milage from a vehicle. Im met my match.

265,500 miles without any type of tune up is good bit of squeezing.
