forget to flush the motor!!!!

hi there I have a friend, he have a 1982 mercruiser 305 with a alpha one he forget to flush the engine almos two weeks ago (SALTWATER USE), he dont believe when I explain to him that the engine may size up if he dont flush it NOW I read about that before and I know Im right HE will read this post so please give him some explanation thanks guys.

You will not cause an engine to sieze by not flushing it one time. In time, after not flushing it, it will corrode worse and faster than if it was flushed.
When it does die, just look at him and say "See, ya could have had a few more years if you listened"
There are also some expensive parts that have to be replaced BEFORE they go bad, or you will be replacing the engine. Your choice.

ok thanks don I guess I lost anyway I always flush my motor after use.

You may have seen some posts about engines that have ingested salt water into the actual cylinders because of a bad gasket or other problem, in those cases it is imperative the water gets drained and the engine run long enough without water to get rid of the remains of the salt water. If the engine was in fresh water you have longer but time is limited when water is inside a cylinder

If an engine is running correctly then the only parts that have salt water contact are external to the engine. Flushing each time like you do is a good thing to do but extended times between flushings will not be a direct cause of an engine siezing.

all i know is i get yelled at when i forget to flush the toilet
