Well I should have kept my mouth shut. After running it for about half an hour I shut it down to eat dinner. Went back out and now the same problem of not starting. I'm going to replace the plugs tonight and see if that helps....last time I just cleaned them up with a brush.

Do I need any special tools or gaskets to pull the drive and check for water?

Check the cap again, it's probably wet. If there is water in the distributor, it will keep doing that till all the water is gone.
You need to get some air and blow the water out that is under the points plate around the advance weights and all.

Re: Forgot my plug and now motor won't start!

Bad news! I checked compression, 1-75psi, 2-50psi, 3-120psi, 4-125psi. Sounds like a head gasket but I didn't try the oil trick to see if it was rings. I'm going to re-torque the head bolts and see if they go up.

Anyone have a guess as to what it is?

Don't bother re-torquing the head just pull it and evaluate the damage.

Did you do what Don said...check the cap again.

Also, you better plan on pulling that starter. You are going to be on borrowed time with that too.

Yes I did what Don said, then decided to do a compression test and found out that 2 cylinders are low, #1 and #2.

Does this point towards a head gasket, cracked or warped head? I wouldn;t think that consecutive cylinders would have bad rings or valves. Anyone seen two low cylinders and want to take a stab at what it is?

It's not going to do any good to sit at the computer and guess what the problem is.
You basically have 2 choices. Do a leakdown test to narrow down the problem, or pull the head and LOOK, like Limited-Time suggested.
