The best cure for this is to get a smaller motor that won't drag in the down position.

I don't think a 25 hp outboard would look funny on an 18' bowrider.:p

Re: Forgot to Trim Up Drive

All this drama...
All this talk of removing drives...Checking alignments...yadda yadda yadda...
All for barely a scratch on the skeg?
He didn't even get out of the parking lot yet!
You people don't have much faith in Merc engineering do you?
This exact scenario probably plays out 100's of times per day with no REAL consequence.

So following the popular trend in over complicating...here's what I'd do...
1. Grab a bottle of Shiner Bock(or any frosty libation)
2. Grab my can of Phantom Black paint
3. Take a drink...
4. Grab my can of Brake parts cleaner
5. Take a drink
6. Spray the affected spot with the brake cleaner...allow to dry
7. Take two drinks...maybe three
8. Spray the now clean spot with paint
9. Finish the beer off as I walk back to the other garage.
10. Forget about it.

Or maybe I'd just skip to #10...

Only one person even suggested it in the whole thread!

And I can't believe people actually drink Shiner Bock! That stuff is nasty!

What do you expect when someone lives in the marshland.
The confluence of N44 and W088 lies in marsh land north and a little east of Kiel, Wisconsin

...and you know what people say about opinions.

I guess the humourous intent of the reply escapes some.

I thought that only redneck Texans drank that stuff!

Well that explains the genetic predisposition...I'm the only "yankee". Everyone else in the clan has resided in or near the CenTex region since my GGGrand Father(one of Sam Houstons surgeons)fought at the battle of San Jacinto!:D

Oh...and running a seasonal Texas BBQ catering business MAY also be a factor...can't eat brisket without it!
