I dont have easy access to the BRP products the book recomends,

what is a good automotive replacement for metal on metal sealing???

the heads on my motor use large O-rings, but the holes in the face of the block that run to water passages are closed off with the blind surface of the head, and need to be sealed to prevent water seepage...no way aluminum on aluminum will be water tight....

I am ready to reinstall my heads now and want to run to the automotive store and pick the best sealant..

RTV?
Indian head?
the red shellac stuff?

appreciate any help

thanks

which ones?

which ones?

I like to use omc gasket sealer :Liquid sealer for use on all gaskets, threaded connections or machine joints
Non-hardening and resists extreme variations in temperature
Prevents corrosion of bolts, studs and fitting threads
Resistant to gasoline, oil, steam, salt-water, antifreeze and propane

This stuff is kind of pricey but napa has a product that is the same thing its called aviation gasket sealer and is much less expensive and is actually the same thing.
I use it on every thing and its never let me down.

Never use any thing else like permatex or form a gasket your asking for trouble.
